RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
I have always used 30 weight motor oil on the threads. Insert and thread muffler onto header pipe, oil on the header pipe and thread into exhaust port. Tighten lock nuts. Have never had a muffler, pipe, or nuts come loose. It works. Old mechanic gave me the tip.

I have a Saito 100 I've had for years and have always had problem with muffler loosening up. I've use several types of thread lock with no success. Any tip would be greatly appreciated .

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
Hi Everyone, Iam new to this forum.
Just getting back into the hobby...currently flying a Kadet Sr.
I have a brand new Saito 150 that I have installed on my Big Bingo (hopefully it will be enough power for me to just "bore holes" in the sky)
My question is does any know what the drill bit size for the propeller shaft? I need to drill out a couple of props, and a spinner backplate so that they fit onto the shaft.
Thanks,
Rick

agree with tightening the exhaust nuts when hot, common practise with full size a/c. however it comes to mind that we used a compound called hylomar, also known as sq32 or rolls royce copound to secure bolts / nuts in hot applications. it was developed for the intermediate case bolts on the rr dart engines. it is blue in colour if that is any help.

I would like to add to make sure the Teflon tape is wrapped in the direction that you will be screwing on the threads. so that the windings of the Teflon tape get tighter not looser as you screw in the muffler. also then retighten when its HOT. beware the ham fist.

OK as a result of the new forum software upgrade we did not get to celebrate 1000 pages. we jumped to 1011. So now I think we need to celebrate. I am going to get myself some chocolate Ice Cream. IE 10 on Windows 8 BTW to get the forum software to work. chrome 32bit on windows 8 does not work. also for the obscure, Iceweasle on debian does not work either.

this comes from my experience sealing the natural gas pipe on my hotwater heater. In my basement. YIKES. a job I wanted to make sure was right, the second time.

interesting new site, been wondering why i wasn't getting posts until i realised that i had changed e mail addesses, now using g mail so hope it works. the move has meant that i have to transpose e mail addresses etc to a general user not telstra that i have used for years, for those interested the operation (3 hours worth on the opertaing table) on my shoulder went ok the pain drugs keep me as high as a kite so i ramble more than usual but other apart from getting temperaturers as low as 12 degrees o/nite everything is going ok. we proceed south friday of next week and my first job model aviation wise is to start assisting in getting the gratton spectacular (|australia's top gun) organised for next year, pardon the plug) good to be alive and looking forward to what comes up next

Good to hear from you again. I hate general anesthesia. I had it 6 times one year and the hangovers from the drugs got worse each time. My son said the same thing when he was about 15 and had 6 retina surgeries. I got a big "I told you so" from him, of course.

i am finding the new site "interesting", getting my way around it combined with having anew e mail address has made for some interesting mental gymnastics, with coupled with the drugs i am taking for the pain relief from the operation is testing my mental accutity. how's that for "words" even though i suspect i have spelled it incorrectly. interesting it appears as if we have a spell checker here as well, got to go this is all to much

when using the extension on the needle valve be aware of vibration, i have found damage to the taper that has been tracked back to long term use of the extensions. in saying that i have not had any trouble personally. could be because i give plenty of clearance around the exit point from the cowl for the extension
